[EVENT] Nonbirinko (Childcare Support Center in Naka ward) Japanese Activities for International Families


There will be Japanese language activities for international parents and children at Nonbirinko (Child care Support Center in Naka ward) by Japanese volunteer group Nadeshiko's.

This event is for parents/guardians who want to learn Japanese with their child(ren).

No reservation and fee needed.

Nonbirinko is for children under six years old (baby to preschooler) and their parents/guardians, and you need registration.

[IMCY]Yukata & Saree trial event at Kokkoro, Hodogaya

[IMCY] Yukata & Saree Trial Event

  We are going to have "Yukata & Saree Trial Event" for mothers of  pre‐school children(0-6 years old children) at the Hodogaya Childcare Support Base, Kokkoro on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013, from 11:00 to 12:30. No reservation required and it's free of charge.  
  Kids can also try on yukata and play there with toys and friends.Those who would like to try on yukata/saree, please come in clothes easy to change, for example a camisole and a pair of leggings.

[EVENT] Family Refreshing Time events at Nonbirinko in 2013

Nonbirinko (Naka ward Parenting Support Base in Kannai) provides us Family Refreshing Time (親子でリフレッシュタイム). Here is the schedule of the year 2013 (April 2013-March 2014).

Let's Play with rhythms (for 18months-pre-school child and parent(s), 20 families)
Date: Wed. 7th August / Wed. 5th February 2014, 11:00-11:40 (for each date)
Fee: 500 Yen


Family Eurythmics (for 1-3 years old child and parent(s), 20 families)
Date: Wed. 29th May / Wed. 6th November, 10:20-11:00 for 1 y-olds and 11:10-11:50 for 2-3 y-olds (for each date).
Fee: 800 Yen


Mamayoga (for those 3months after giving birth, you can join this with your children, 10 families)
Date: Wed. 17th July / Wed. 15th January 2014, 14:00-15:30 (for each date)
Fee: 300 Yen


Power Yoga (for those 3months after giving birth, you can join this with your children, 12 families)
Date: Wed. 4th September 10:30-12:00
Fee: 300 Yen


The lecture on Tea (16 people)
Date: Tue. 4th June (How to prepare good tea: Darjeeling First Flush/ Thu. 31st October (Halloween Tea Party), 10:30-11:15 (for each date)
Fee: 500 Yen


*The membership at Nonbirinko required.
*Reservation starts at 10:00 am two weeks before each date.
(For example, if the date is 29th May, the reservation starts on 15th May).
*Please get the application form at Nonbirinko and turn it in at the counter or send by telefax (045-663-9715).
*The fee should be paid on the day. Please prepare small changes.

[EVENT] Free Bone Density Test for Mom and Dad at Nonbirinko, 30th May, 2013

Bone Density Test for Mothers and Fathers.

Date: Thursday, 30th May, 13:30 - 15:00
Place: Nonbirinko (Naka ward Parenting Support Base, 9F Celte JR Kannai Station)
Fee: Free


They will check your bone density for free!
No reservation required, first arrived, first served. You may not be able to have the check if there are too many people.

If you are not the member of Nonbirinko, please register yourself and your children first at the counter.

It is the heel bone density test, please come in the socks easier to take off (stockings or tights are not recommended).

[PLAYGROUP] International Mothers (Fathers) Gatherings in Yokohama

1) International Mothers Gathering by Hodogaya International Exchange Center
外国人母親交流会(保土ヶ谷国際交流の会)

The gathering is basically held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday, from 10:30 to 11:30, but it changes sometimes and no gatherings in August and January.
Mothers from foreign countries and local mothers meet up and talk about child-care. There are always several volunteer staff who are experienced mothers (they have children/grandchildren of elementary school and up) who give us advice and play with kids. Basically, there's no limit of the age of the child(ren). Not all the volunteers speak English, but there are always someone who speaks English.

Activities: crafts, sandwich party, potluck party, dental-care advice, puppet theater etc...
Sometimes, foreign mothers provide special events such as dance performance, traditional costume trial and so on.

2) International Parenting Gathering at Smile Port (Minatomirai)

They have the gathering basically every 4th Friday, 10:30-11:30
Please confirm the schedule on their calendar.

*Smile Port and other Childcare Support Bases in Yokohama are for caretakers and preschool children (mainly 0-3 years old). Pre-moms are welcome, too.

3) Multicultural Family & Baby Playgroup at Konan International Lounge
多文化赤ちゃんとママの広場/港南国際交流ラウンジ


Multicultural Family & Baby Playgroup is held every 2nd Monday (except in August, October and January) from 10:30 to 12:00. Anyone with little children can join. Gathering is mainly conducted in Japanese but as it is at the International Lounge, you don't really have to worry about language.

4) Shabering International Exchange at Haguhagu no Ki (Gumyo-ji)

At Haguhagu no Ki (Minami Child-care Support Base) (website in English)
10:30-11:30, on around the beginning of every month (the date varies every month, basically first Tuesday in Jan, Mar, May, July, Sep and Nov and first Saturday in Feb, Apr, June, Aug, Oct and Dec)
Anyone who are interested in International Exchange can join it. There is also a book advisor on the gathering day, and some picture books in foreign languages.


*Like other child-care bases, Haguhagu no Ki is for babies, preschool children and their caretakers (or pre-moms).
*Membership registration needed (free).

This international mothers gathering might be for Isogo habitants. Please confirm the base.
On a Friday in June, August, October, December (2015), and February (2016) 10:30-11:30.

*Like other child-care support bases, Isopiyo is for babies, preschool children and their caretakers (pre-moms are welcome, too).
*Membership registration needed (free).

6) Nakama Talk: International Exchange at Knachie

International mothers gathering Nakama Talk International Exchange is held every 1st Thursday from 11:00-12:00. Foreign mothers and fathers, intermarriage couples, returnees, and those who would like to talk with them can join the meeting.

*Like other child-care bases, Kanachie is for babies, preschool children and their caretakers (or pre-moms).
*Membership registration needed (free).
